Rairies Montrieux > Our commitments
The craze for natural materials, the development of bio-climatic spaces and the framework of new environmental constraints have thrust terracotta to the forefront of the architectural scene.

A hallmark of 10 centuries of architecture and more than ever in tune with the times, terracotta stands out for its 100% ecological credentials. No chemicals or pollutants are used in the composition of Rairies Montrieux terracotta. The clay is preserved in natural quarries close to the manufacturing site. What's more, it's attractive to buy and resistant to use, giving it a rare virtue: its ability to beautify over time.
INDOOR
Throughout its life, terracotta contributes to the comfort of interior spaces. It emits no odors or carcinogenic volatile organic compounds, and promotes thermal regulation.
EXTERIOR FACADES
Rairies Montrieux products can be used as external insulation, meeting the new regulatory requirements for building energy consumption.
Career management
The geographical location of our quarries just a few kilometers from the production site reduces our carbon footprint. Our quarry operation plans include biodiversity preservation, and reclamation at the end of operations through reforestation or the creation of a water body.
Waste management
- The green waste corresponding to the raw clay mixes resulting from press settings is reintroduced into the manufacturing mix.
- Dry rejects corresponding to non-conforming products after drying are reintroduced during the soil preparation phase to regulate soil moisture.
- Cooked scraps corresponding to offcuts or non-conforming products are transformed into mulch for use in landscaped gardens.
Energy saving
To limit the use of fossil fuels, Rairies Montrieux is equipped with a biomass boiler using wood from the production waste of a local furniture maker. This fuel is also used to power wood-fired furnaces.
The heat generated by the boiler and wood-fired ovens is used for the dryers.
Water recycling
The enameling workshop is equipped with a wastewater reprocessing station that is reused for washing machines and tools.
