Nursing home - Résidence Le Bosquet

A project that revives the neighborhood's plot structure and historic typology

The project involved restructuring and doubling the capacity of the home for the elderly. The existing R+4 building, located in the heart of the city center, is out of the ordinary in its predominantly R+1 residential context. In order to integrate the existing building and the extension into its context, our approach is to sequence and stagger the volumes along the slope of the street. On a stone base, in continuity with the existing wall, our project is divided into four sequences. This links the imposing massing of the existing building with the more modest volumes of the neighbouring buildings. Brick cladding in a variety of hues and opening shapes subtly accentuates vertical divisions, echoing the brick modenature of Cholet town center.
