Hand-molded facing brick has a rough, ribbed surface, and is timeless and full of character. The name of this facing brick betrays the way it was once made: by hand. A craftsman would roll a ball of clay in a layer of sand, then project it into a mold. He then removed the excess clay, turned the mold upside down and extracted the unfired brick.
It is this projection of the sandblasted ball that gives hand-molded brick its typical structure.Today, machines do most of the work, and the production process for hand-molded facing bricks has accelerated considerably. Discover our range of hand-moulded bricks in partnership with Vandersanden!
